Welcome to all bead lovers
and enthusiasts.
My name is Angie Catloth.
I was a middle school math teacher of 24 years now transplanted
in Central Florida. (My husband retired so we moved here to
help his brother with his elderly mother) We love it here
but I miss my family in Maryland which is were I hope to move
back to one day.
Over the years I've immersed
myself in many venues of the art world including painting,
ceramics, basket weaving and a slue of other things. My husband
says I'm a collector of hobbies. I say I'm a collector of
"artistic expressions".
Beads began to fascinate
me so I found myself taking a wire wrapping class. We were
wire wrapping lampwork beads...which was also the first time
I ever saw or heard of such things. I was far more fascinated
with the beads than the wire wrapping. My juices were flowing
and had to find out more about this marvelous medium. To my
total delight, I found a lampwork teacher in Ocala, about
40 minutes away, and I was off and running. Since then I've
set up my own studio in my home, devoured books written by
some of the greats like Corina Tettinger, Cindy Jenkins, Brad
Pearson and the like. Hundreds of beads passed through my
kiln before taking another class, this time with Lance McRorie
at Flametree in Orlando. I learned a lot from Lance and am
sorry he's moving his business to Georgia. Even so, I'll continue
to entrench myself in the art glass world and pick the brains
of many wonderful beadmakers at Lampwork, Etc., Wet Canvas,
and ISGB. I look forward to taking more classes and improving
my craft
