Catherine Anderson, AWS, NWS

A PAINTER FOR OVER 40 YEARS, CATHERINE was born in Chicago and attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Art, University of Cincinnati and the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.  She has received numerous awards from top art organizations in the US and teaches private retreats in her studio on the coast of Maine.  She is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS), National Watercolor Society (NWS), California Watercolor Association, Knickerbocker Artists, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America and Watercolor West.  She has been in both the prestigious Denver Rotary 'Artists of America' Exhibit and the 'Great American Artists' Exhibition and Sale in Cincinnati, Ohio since 1996.  Catherine was recently bestowed the honor of a two-year Directorship of the American Watercolor Society.

Her work appears in many North Light Books and publications.  Catherine designed the cover of San Francisco's famous Greens Restaurant cookbook, Fields of Greens.  Her work was chosen by author Ray Gonzales to be on the cover of his book, John Wayne and Other Ghost Stories. Catherine's work has appeared on the cover of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association twice.

Recently, Catherine was contacted by Disney and two of her paintings are seen in Disney's movie, DARK WATER starring Jennifer Connelly released in 2005 and in Disney's major motion picture, DEJA VU, starring Denzel Washington released in 2007. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in America.

Catherine is the author of the Basic Watercolor Answer Book published by North Light Books.  She wrote a colum called 'Water Rescue' for the magazine, Watercolor Magic from 1995 until 2005.  It is now called Questions and Answers on Watercolor Magic's web site.  She just completed her first video, Creating Multiple Glazes in Your Watercolors.  Her book and DVD, VHS are available for purchase on her web site and soon will be up on EBay for sale.

Catherine's paintings are found in corporate collections and in the private collections of Will and Margaret Hearst, Patti and Gavin MacLeod, gifted collector Steven Spielberg, and Elizabeth Montgomery of the beloved sitcom Bewitched.  Her paintings have been exhibited in museums throughout the United States and China.

She lives on the coast of Maine with her husband, their Black Lab, Westie, two Yorkies and their Newfoundland puppy.
