Gray Gardens Hi....my name is John Gray, thanks for stopping by my page. By day, I'm a construction project manager. Don't let the title fool you, it's mostly pushing paper and meetings. I like it because I can work in an office and have an excuse to get out to job sites on a regular basis. There's also a great satisfaction in seeing buildings built that you had some part in. I'm educated in business and information systems, but the idea of sitting under flourescent lights and getting a blue tan for the rest of my life was not very appealing, so here I am. In my life, I've operated small business ventures from home. My first was construction materials listing (takeoffs) which I operated my last 2 years of college and still do on occasion. Second, a cad drafting service, which again, I still do on occasion. Thru all the different endeavors, I had always enjoyed working in my own garden. So this time, when I was thinking of new ideas for a business, I wanted very much to incorporate my interests in gardening. I also wanted a 'green' business of sorts. Finally, I had hoped in some way to contribute to my (or any) local community garden or food bank. So, the idea for Gray Gardens was born. While I'm still new to the idea of selling plants, what I'm lacking in know-how I try to make up in customer service. Based on our feedback, it looks pretty good so far. We've also been able to contribute a large number of plants to a local church food bank effort, which carries great satisfaction for me personally. This was our first year contributing, I'm hoping to contribute about 400 plants next spring.
