All About GuitarMakingStuff
Making Guitars and Basses is my hobby
GuitarMakingStuff is operated by a hobbyist Guitar / Bass designer / builder. I have had the 'bug' since 1998. I was a musician in the 1960's when I played a Bass all throughout high school. I have always retained MANY fond memories. So when I saw a broken Bass in an Oxnard thrift shop I waited until 'half-price' Saturday. This Bass had it's nut destroyed by someone with a rattail file, and two machine heads that rattled. Not that much wrong, and at 50 bucks, a pretty good deal for a P-Bass clone. I needed to buy the tuners, so I did a web search for 'guitar parts'. One of the main sites that came up was Stewart-Macdonalds. I sent for their catalog. They had the correct 'Elephant Ear' style tuners and a BIG book section in their catalog. I saw a book by a Mr. Melvyn Hiscock 'Make Your Own Electric Guitar'. This book was different than other books I'd seen because Melvyn had you start with selecting the wood! I built a Bass from this book, after repairing the Oxnard Bass.
Now I sell parts and templates on eBay
The rest is history! I now have a shop full of tools, and I KNOW what I am doing Saturday, in case someone asks! All wooden body blanks, semi-finished necks and other wooden guitar parts are made in my shop.
