My page, Music Buying Freak, is a list of CD shops which sell online. It includes shops which sell new, used, CDs, vinyl, cassettes, and whatever else you can think of.
I mostly sell CDs, many of which I got to check out, but ended up not wanting to keep. eBay is a cool way for a music collector to be able to check out a lot of music for less money, 'cause you can sell something if you end up not wanting to keep it.
General Policies
Condition:
I try my best to accurately describe the condition of the items (mostly CDs) I sell. I do not really use the "industry standard" grading terms. Instead I just try to give details on each CD. I mostly sell CDs that are in very good condition and will often use the word "excellent" to describe the condition of CDs and inserts. By excellent, I generally mean no scratches on the CD, and minimal, standard wear to the inserts. Excellent could also include some very minor marks, or very very minor scratches on the CD, and very very slight waviness, and possibly indents from those tabs in the jewel case, in the inserts. Excellent could also mean totally mint. I just hate to use "mint", because it seems to imply perfection, and nothing is perfect (on earth). I will always mention promo holes punched, saw cuts in the spine, promo stamps, and any other promo/cutout imperfections. I typically do not include a description of the condition of the jewel case. If a jewel case has broken hinges or too many broken CD holder teeth, I will usually replace it. If it is a special jewel case, which I cannot replace, I will usually describe any problems. If jewel case condition, or exact minute details of CD/Insert condition are a concern to you, email me before bidding on an item. As far as new items, if I happen to end up with a still sealed in shrinkwrap copy of a CD, I assume that it is in fact new and unplayed/unopened. I make no guarantees, and my description is based on my best judgement. I never intend to deceive anyone. I realize it is possible to re-shrinkwrap CDs, and if the jewel case or inserts look rough, or I suspect that it is not in fact brand new, I will probably open it and verify its condition. If you get an item from me that I said was new, but in fact it was re-shrinkwrapped, and is all messed up, contact me and we will work something out. I have never had a problem with this in the past, and don't expect to in the future...but I have thought about it, and that is why I mentioned it. I have never had a complaint about the condition of a CD I sold.
CDRs:
I do not knowingly sell CDRs or copies of any kind on eBay. If I did happen to sell a copy of some sort I would make it clear. I recommend that all buyers check the feedback of sellers they plan to buy from. I have seen people burned (heheh, get it..."burned") by sellers who auction CDRs of rare releases.
Payment:
I accept most forms of payment:
Check or Money Order: Make out to Chris King. Checks add a possible 10 day delay for clearing, depending on buyer feedback.
Well Concealed Cash: At your own risk, as it is not traceable.
PayPal:http://www.paypal.com/ My account is under: w3k@earthlink.net
(NOTE: payment for multiple items to be shipped together must be sent in one PayPal payment. If I receive multiple payments I will "Refund" them and request a single payment for the entire amount. I am charged a fee for every separate payment I receive.)
Packaging:
My typical packaging for a single CD is a new bubble/padded envelope, with one extra layer of bubble wrap. For two CDs it's about the same, but probably without the extra layer of padding, and possibly a used bubble envelope. For three or more CDs I use a box with bubble wrap/newspaper padding.
Shipping:
Shipping costs should be clearly outlined in the auction. In most cases, shipping discounts will be given for multiple items won. In the USA I typically use USPS First Class shipping. For shipping a larger number of CDs, I typically use USPS Media Mail rate, which is pretty cheap and not all that slow. For international destinations I use USPS Airmail Letter Post, or Global Priority (if available), buyer's choice. If you prefer any other USPS services (insurance/Priority/whatever) just ask. I am flexible. International buyers who win multiple items must contact me for their total shipping costs. These vary so much from place to place, I cannot offer a standard discount. I am not responsible for items lost by the post office, so if you're worried at all you must ask for, and pay for, insurance or delivery confirmation. I keep my postal receipts, so I know when I sent what where (based on zip code). I can get to the post office one or two times a week.
Feedback:
I leave positive feedback for all successful deals. I guess not everyone does. I have only received feedback from about 80% of the people I have dealt with. I have probably left feedback for 99.9% of all eBay transactions I have been involved in, and the 0.1% was not left on purpose.
Other Policies:
After an auction ends, you will receive an email from eBay which should have all the information you need to complete the transaction. If I don't hear from a bidder within three days after auction end, I reserve the right to NOT complete the deal with the non-contacting high bidder. I make this decision mostly based on the responsiveness of the bidder, and the bidder's feedback history. After seven days I will begin to take action by filing an "Unpain Item Dispute" (UID). This is just an alert. If things are worked out the bidder will not get a "permanent record" with eBay. If the bidder does not contact me or work it out, I have the option of requesting a final fee credit from eBay, which will have the effect of the bidder getting a warning. If you get a few of these, you get the boot from eBay. I will also, most likely, give the bidder a negative feedback stating how I tried to contact you, and sent a UID, and how you never responded. If you don't plan to pay, don't bid (cuz that makes you lame). If you know you will be out of town when an auction ends, email me before that and let me know (even if the auction hasn't ended, if there is a chance you will win it) so I won't slam you with a UID. If you win an item and find yourself in a tough situation, contact me. I am a human and I understand that you are too. I am flexible...so don't leave me hanging. That sucks. If you end up taking a long time to pay, even after initial contact, I will email you a couple of times and ask what's up. If I get no response I will file a UID and so on. Having said all of this, I may wait a little longer than the times I have mentioned, but I may not.
