Excerpts from Cornett's Plein Air Journal:
"When traveling by train in
England, I felt so excited, I had come so far to see some of my favorite
paintings from the late 1800's and paint the English landscape.
As I was sitting on the
train, drinking tea from my thermos, an English lady sat across from me.
She asked, how I was enjoying England.
I explained that I had come to paint outdoors in Cornwall, and to see some
of the paintings from the Newlyn Society of Artist and other
painters.
She told me the wonderful story,
of how her grandmother had collected paintings from artists.Some of the very
painting I had come to see, her grandmother had purchased from the artists
themselves.Also, that the paintings had become entwined with their
family's tradition and history.Some of the paintings her grandmother
purchased had become so valuable they were sold.Other paintings were
given to different family members and are enjoyed today by their family and friends."
It is my hope, that you
collect not only my paintings but other artists as well.That your
collection of paintings becomes a part of your family's history and
traditions.
