Founded as a not-for-profit organization by
Andrew Cuomo in 1986 and currently chaired by Maria Cuomo Cole,
HELP USA is one of the largest providers of housing, job training,
mentoring, and social services for the homeless and victims of domestic
violence in the nation.
Recognized by the U.S. Congress as a national model, the
HELP USA mission is to empower the homeless and others in need to become
and remain self-reliant. Through the development of quality housing
with on-site support services, HELP USA provides resources for its
residents to become independent and productive. HELP USA breaks the cycle of
dependency by addressing its underlying causes in a way that respects
the dignity of those they serve and helps them to help themselves.
Each HELP USA residence offers a comprehensive array of
services including employment training and placement, life skills
education, childcare and domestic violence counseling. As clients build
confidence and skills, they take control of their lives and find a new
beginning.
