I began selling dolls in 1985 when I opened a Doll Shop called Herbies in a local Mall. I have had a love for beautiful dolls since I was very young and began making dolls to resell beside other major brands in my Doll Shop.

When I would complete a doll, it felt as though I had brought it to life.  It was very gratifying.   I personally made over 2000 dolls from Apple Valley before retiring and closing my store.

The name of my store "Herbies" has a very special meaning to me.  In 1985 I adopted an infant Chimpanzee and named him Herbie.  He lived in our home and was treated like a child for almost 18 years.  I loved him dearly, but realized he did not need to be confined to a house for the rest of his life. Chimps can live to over fifty. 

Thanks to Dr. Jane Goodall, the famous primatologist who lived in Africa for more than 40 years, we found Herbie and his step-brother Sonny (whom we adopted several years later) a wonderful home in Ft. Pierce Fl called SaveTheChimps where they now live on a 3 acre island with other chimps.  They have a wonderful chimp house to sleep in and 24 hr. caretakers to spoil them rotten.

My husband, Freddie and I visit them often.  We retired so we could donate our services to SaveTheChimps and to educate others not to bring wild animals home as pets, no matter how loveable they are.  They should live free to sleep under the stars, feel the grass under their feet and the rain on their back.

I still have a love of dolls, so my eBay store allows me to continue to sell these beautiful dolls and meet many new friends though my transactions.
