A Wedding Vacation For Heritage Trading

Heritage
Trading Company
Purveyors
of Luxury Goods from India
Old World
Artistry. Traditional Craftsmanship. Affordable Luxury.
Is it possible, in the 21st Century, to still
find artisans who will spend hours hand beading a ribbon, embroidering a shawl,
hand printing fabric, or fashioning a silver necklace? And if you could
find them, could you afford their work? Or is the luxury of high quality,
handcrafted products now affordable for only the wealthiest buyers?
Numerous artisans in India still carry on these
Old World traditions. Some of them work completely by hand. Others
use modest machinery in small factories. All of these efforts are labor
intensive. Yet in today's world economy, many of their products are not
expensive.
At Heritage Trading we enjoy finding these
luxuries and bringing them to you at affordable prices.
Quality Control
To be truly luxurious, artisanal products require
quality vigilance. Poorly crafted work brings no joy. We diligently
search for the best producers, rejecting a great many along the way. We
could pay (and charge our buyers) slightly less, but the quality would not be as
good. Our Ebay feedback attests to these efforts and to the fact that our
buyers like the quality they receive.
The Trading
Company Tradition
Centuries
ago, the few Europeans who visited India were astonished, impressed, and
occasionally appalled by what they found. They quickly discovered
products--from indigo and spices to silks and some very large diamonds--that
they knew would find a ready market back home. By the early 17th Century,
the Dutch, Portuguese, English, and French had all established India trading
companies.
In the 21st
Century, Heritage Trading Company was founded in a similar spirit of optimism
and commercial exploration.
A Little History
In Case You're Interested
Heritage Trading started as an Ebay company
in 2002. But its inspiration really began back in the mid-1970's when
Dinesh (from Jodhpur) met Candace (from Richmond) at the University of Virginia.
Marriage, a move to California, family, and trips to India followed.
Suitcases on those trips always came home very full. Friends and even
strangers admired the textiles, crafts, and jewelry--things that simply weren't
available outside India. Surely there was a market for these products in
other countries. But how to find it?
Auspicious factors came together in 2002.
Dinesh's sister, Anita, and her husband, Arun, immigrated to the United States.
And we discovered Ebay. The marketplace that we had sought was available and so was the
person power. The time was right for Heritage Trading Company.
We invite you
to become part of this history as we explore the artisan-made luxuries of India.
