We carry over our well established business ethics from our storefront days to our Ebay days.  We treat our customers with professional courtesy and respect.  We describe our auction items as carefully as needed to allow the buyer to understand exactly what they are getting.  We ask in return that our bidders carefully read and understand all the terms of the auctions.  If they don't, we request that they ask questions!!!  It is assumed that if a bidder bids, then they have read the terms of the auction.

I bring this up as we have a strict policy regarding Paypal Payments.  All auctions paid with Paypal must include a "confirmed address".  This is the address that Paypal has on file and is connected to a credit card billing address that they request for some accounts.  Accounts that are funded by bank accounts do not necessarily have confirmed addresses.  Paypal will not offer any seller protection if I mail an item to an unconfirmed address as this is the primary way a dishonest person will get an item fraudulently.  They get a hold of your paypal information, start shopping and have the items shipped to a separate address as THEY want to get the item, not YOU!.  I had this happen in the past.  The auction went smoothly, payment was made quickly, but there was an uncofirmed address in the payment.  No problem, sometimes people want items sent to work where they will be there to receive it.  OK, mailed out the package.  2 weeks later, we receive notification that Paypal is withdrawing the money from our account as that paypal account was illegally accessed and we mailed the package to the fraudulent purchaser.  No recourse on our end as we shipped to an unconfirmed address.  No money, no item either!  If as a bidder, you only allow sellers to ship to confirmed addresses, you are protecting yourself and as a seller, I only ship to confirmed addresses, that protects me.  It all helps ebay be a safer place to work and play, especially with all the phishing emails that we are bombarded with daily to obtain our passwords and personal information.  DON'T ever give that information out!!
