Biography

Helen Janow Miqueo (Elena) is a next-generation California artist who brings a fresh and unique voice to abstract art. She expresses her artistic vision through abstract expressionism, cubism and other styles.

Over the years, the artist has developed a Unique Acrylic Pouring Technique™ that animates her explorations of Abstract Expressionism. This technique comes to life when the acrylic paint is mixed with water and, literally, poured onto the canvas, creating free-flowing shapes and forms. Many years of experience and experimentation allows Helen to control the, otherwise, uncontrollable flow of paint. This unique technique also allows her to maintain the purity and freshness of her colors.

Helen's unique artistic spirit informs her approach to Abstract Expressionism. Her finished work reveals both rational ideas and spontaneous bursts of imagery, which are easily seen in a free-flowing rain of colors. The subtle shapes, vibrant palette and natural freshness of Helen's work appeals to both the eye and the mind. The spontaneous flow of colors and shapes provoke an emotional response seldom experienced in contemporary art. A closer look reveals the passionate intensity of her artistry.

On the other hand, Helen's Cubist pieces, are created with great precision and attention to detail. Rational ideas and controlled brush strokes are the hallmark of these pieces. They stand in contrast to the free-flowing style of her Abstract Expressionist work. The two styles greatly complement each other, making Helen a unique and daring artist.

Helen has exhibited at numerous California galleries including University Gallery, Pacific Art League of Palo Alto, and La Galerie Internationale. Born in Russia, Helen successfully completed Moscow's School of Art and holds an AA Degree in Graphic Design. She is presently living in northern California where she continues to explore and develop her artistic vision.
