The Hope Chest


He’s alone. She’s scared. And they’re hungry for a new life… Today, many teens are afraid, angry, confused, alienated, rebellious and out of control. They feel hopeless. Their hopes and dreams of a future have been crushed…by substance abuse, sexual abuse, eating disorders and/or a myriad of family problems that make home unsafe, loveless or confusing. The good news is that there is hope. House of Hope offers a place of refuge that encourages, heals and restores teens and their families. House of Hope is a safe place – a place full of God’s hope, forgiveness and grace. They adhere to Christian principles and provide a place for girls and boys ages 12-18 – and their families – to find a new life. House of Hope is a non-profit organization that is funded completely by donations from individuals, businesses, churches and foundations.

That is also where we come in…

The Hope Chest is House of Hope's thrift shop. House of Hope was launched in 1999 as a walk-in counseling clinic in down town Traverse City, Michigan. Four years later, The Hope Chest was opened as a support and is run by mostly volunteer workers. $.80 of every $1 made at the thrift shop is donated directly to House of Hope's Scholarship Fund.
