Welcome!......To
Our eBay HorseyFeathers Page
Here is ..... where you can find out a little bit about us, our goals, why
we do HorseyFeathers and other things, we hope, you might enjoy!
But First,
many of you may be asking....Where have you been? A little
more than a year ago we were listing several new stencils a day. We
were adding to our shop many new finished items...and then we just sort of
"went away" for a season of time. As many of your know, last January
I had to have yet another, much bigger surgery on my left knee from the
initial injury in July before...3 days in the ICU because of the epidural
anesthesia used post-op in my recovery, so that my leg could be strapped
in a PCM to constantly flex my knee to 95 degrees of flexion. The
surgeon had to cut yet another tendon on the outside of my knee in
such a way to make it longer and still work. Then came more months
of therapy...yes, passive flexion...OUCH. Did you know that's why
sometimes they put you on your tummy to bend your leg.....so you can't
squirm away from them. I am telling you what.....There were times I
truly thought they were going to pull the tendon clean off my knee cap
again. The pain medication I had to take prior to therapy made me
sick and then sleepy later in the day so, for awhile we just stopped and
took time to recover and heal from the initial Quadriceps Tendon Avulsion.
I'm asked all the time, if I had a knee replacement, but no, I did not, it
just looks like I did! Then on my last Physical Therapy appointment
late March of this year, as we were getting ready to leave I received a
phone call ...my mother was being sent to the hospital to relieve swelling
in her feet and legs. Her Congestive Heart Failure often did
this...but never to the point where she needed to be hospitalized. I
had just given her her meds that morning before leaving for my therapy
appointment. So we stayed at the hospital till she arrived....that
day little did I know, that I would be given yet another test of faith and
another trial in life. One of the tendons that is attached to the
Mitral Valve in her heart had broken. Now her valve would not shut
completely and it also added more stress to the remaining tendons.
They did give her an option to have surgery, but at 87 Years old, she
declined and we brought my Mom home to Hospice Care. With me
being a professional nurse I was more than comfortable in dealing with all
the things that need to be dealt with with regards to her care.
Those last 8 weeks we had with Mom were so precious.....everyday was a
gift. Our house is within walking distance to hers and so I was with
her everyday and my sister came after work and stayed with us through the
night. She never had any pain....we talked, sometimes into the
wee hours of a brand new day...we laughed, she joked around and really
appeared to be in perfect health. Then the Lord took her home,
expectantly and yet un-expectantly, in late May. Then came everything
involved in settling her estate, an auction which took weeks to prepare
for and I really just needed time... to breath...think...reflect and
remember. And so finally, this is where we are. We are
slowly coming back full throttle. My knee is getting stronger but I
still have flexion issues. I am learning to run again and take
bigger than 4 inch steps. I can walk just fine, but can't sit very
long. I can do almost everything I could do before my accident.
Also, at this time I want to thank everyone for all your kind wishes and
expressions of sympathy. I know one of my favorite customers was
dealing with this very same issue with her mother....Sharon, email me.
You all have been great.......God Bless.
