THE HOSPICECARE & SHARE THRIFT SHOP
Launched in 2005 in Boulder, Colorado and staffed largely by volunteers, the HospiceCare & Share Thrift Shop gives bargain hunters the chance to find great buys while supporting a great cause.
Here's how it works: Generous friends of HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties provide tax-deductible donations of gently-worn clothing, jewelry, furniture, household items, collectibles, books, music and more. Local shoppers visit the Thrift Shop for unbelievable finds at affordable prices. And the dollars raised through their purchases support HospiceCare's work to provide expert, compassionate care for all who are dying, whether or not they are able to pay for services.
Our customers and generous friends who donated items to the shop not only discover unique treasures, but also learn more about HospiceCare's mission -- and help the organization fulfill it. One hundred percent of the proceeds from our eBay auctions support HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. We are certified as a non-profit organization through MissionFish and eBay Giving Works. Although your purchase is not tax deductible, the proceeds from the sale help to fund the Hospice mission.
HOSPICECARE OF BOULDER AND BROOMFIELD COUNTIES
HospiceCare is a Colorado-licensed, Medicare and Medicaid-certified, non-profit healthcare organization serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Colorado. Our mission is to provide compassionate end-of-life care, comfort the grieving and educate our community.
Through a comprehensive and holistic program of pain and symptom management and psychosocial and spiritual support, we strive to:
-
Provide excellent end-of-life care to patients in their homes, in hospitals, in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities and at the HospiceCare Center, our 10-bed inpatient unit.
-
Assist patients' families throughout their loved one's end-of-life journey and immediately after the death.
-
Provide grief support to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss, whether or not their loved one was our patient.
-
Educate people in our service area about all matters related to death and dying.
Our organization was established in 1976 as the first hospice program in Colorado by a small group of visionaries who believed there were better ways to care for those who were dying and grieving. Many of these founders are still involved in HospiceCare, which has grown from a small, all volunteer agency caring for 15 patients in its first year to a team of 133 staff and over 300 volunteers serving an average of 150 terminally ill individuals and their families every day.
For over thirty years, we have continually monitored community needs, developing and adjusting services with the overall aim of promoting well being even in the face of life-limiting illness -- thus promoting the highest quality of life, with richness and meaning to its natural end.
