Earlier this year
we visited the manufacturing facilities in China to see how these bulbs
are made.
How do
they twist those bulbs? It is an amazing but simple process. Heat up the
tubes, bend them against a mold, wait until they cool and there they are!
Next they
take the new tubes and shoot a cleaning fluid through it to get rid of dirt
particles. Then they add a coating and into the oven they go.
A little
bit of baking hardens the white coating to the bulbs.

I'm sure many of
you enjoyed eBay Live 2003 in Orlando. It was great to meet so many
people and to see all the incredible products.
Here are some highlights
of the conference:
Over 10,000
people packed the main hall to listen to Meg Whitman and Pierre Omidyar
speak about how eBay was built.
This is
the guy who started it all. After he sold a broken laser pointer for $14.00
on AuctionWeb (Version 1 of eBay) he knew there might be something to this
auction thing. The laser pointer was used to torment his cat. Fluffy's loss,
our gain!
All of
us were blown away when Weird Al Yankovic showed up with a dance troupe
and lip-synched his song "eBay" which is a parody of the Backstreet
Boys' mega-hit "I Want It That Way." It was lots of fun. If you

The tradeshow
floor was packed all the time. Attendees scurried from booth-to-booth to
scarf up these cool eBay pins. There were about 20 pins and they were put
up for auction almost immediately (what would you expect from eBay-ers).
They became such a hit that many people hassled eBay staff for more pins.
Some were in tears because they didn't get all the pins. Amazing!
