ABOUT THE OWNER:

I have been collecting and mounting insects from all over the world for more than 25 years. During that time, I have mounted over 50,000 insects of all varieties for private collections, research laboratories, universities, and museums. 

I graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a Bachelor's degree in Zoology. While studying as an undergraduate and graduate student, I worked in a research laboratory studying insect biodiversity. In this lab I mounted, identified, and added insects to the University’s insect collection. Throughout my career, I have used my private collection to illustrate the concepts of biodiversity, taxonomy, and ecology for students of all ages. My favorite insects are Swallowtail Butterflies, Bird-Wing Butterflies, and all types of Beetles (particularly Metallic Woodboring Beetles). 

New research has shown that there are more than 50 million different species of insects on the planet, with new species being discovered every day! Sharing my love of insects is my lifelong passion. In my experience, many people who think they do not like "bugs" find themselves wanting to know more about the world of insects once they have seen examples of beautiful species from around the world, species they never knew existed .

I am a legal importer of insects from all around the world. I am fully licensed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department as a legal importer of insects. Buy with confidence from me! All of my specimens have been acquired through legal importers into the United States or directly from the country of origin through all guidelines outlined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department. Let me do all of the paper work, all you have to do is enjoy your insects!!

At this time, my mounts come in glass-front Riker mounts with black cases. Riker mounts may be hung on a wall, placed on a table, or displayed almost anywhere you'd like a unique piece of natural art. I am working on agreements to have my mounts professionally framed, so please check back often to view new framing options! 

Since my background is in ecology and since I enjoy the natural environment, I use insects that are raised specifically for the insect collecting trade. If captive-bred specimens cannot be obtained, wild-caught insects are collected in accordance with the laws of the country where collected. 

A percentage of The Insect Kingdom's sales is donated to a rain forest conservation fund to help protect these valuable and threatened ecosystems across the planet.

PAYMENT AND SHIPPING:

I ACCEPT PAYPAL, MONEY ORDERS, OR PERSONAL CHECKS.

If paying by money order or personal check, I will ship your item once the funds have cleared my bank account.  There will be a $35 charge for any payment returned by the bank unpaid, NSF, etc.

My flat-rate shipping and handling fee for insect frames is $6.00.  Please add $1.00 for each additional frame you purchase.  Packages will be shipped via US Priority Mail.  Expedited shipping will be charged at actual costs.  Very large or extremely fragile frames may incur additional shipping and handling charges; insurance is recommended for these items.

If you would like to purchase insurance, please indicate this at the time of purchase.  You will be charged the actual insurance cost.

ARE YOU A LICENSED IMPORTER?

Yes I am fully licensed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department as a legal importer of insects from around the world. 

WILL YOU COMBINE SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE ITEMS?

I will gladly combine shipping on multiple items!  Please add $1.00 per item to the flat rate shipping and handling charge of $6.00.  Expedited shipping will be charged at actual costs.  Very large or extremely fragile frames may incur additional shipping and handling charges.

ARE THE BUTTERFLIES AND INSECTS REAL?

Yes, all of the specimens I have for sale are real.

ARE THE RIKER MOUNTS GLASS?

Yes, the fronts of the mounts are made of glass.

WHAT INFORMATION IS INCLUDED WITH THE FRAMED INSECTS?

You will receive the Riker mount with your insect mounted inside, along with a printed label showing the Latin name and the specimen's origin or locality.  The back of your mount will also include detailed information about your insect and the scientific family it belongs to.
