We are away from 17th to the 24th of November. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Greetings from the Old Sod! D & A
IRISH-CELT
We are now nearly ten years eBay selling Irish collectables, antiques and memorabilia to the four corners of the world. 99% of our customers have connections with Ireland or what is now universally referred to as: The Irish Diaspora (from the Greek word “to scatter”). This phrase was first used by Irish President Mary Robinson to describe Irish emigrants and their descendants around the world. In her 1995 address to the Joint Houses of the Oireachtas (Parliament), “Cherishing the Irish Diaspora” Ms Robinson reached out to the “70 million people worldwide who can claim Irish descent”. She went on to say that “The men and women of our diaspora represent not simply a series of departures and losses. They remain, even while absent, a precious reflection of our own growth and change, a precious reminder of the many strands of identity which compose our story”.
An Irish American friend and customer of ours in 2001 wrote a long letter to us in answer to our question “Why do people buy from Irish Celt”? She replied: “I’m convinced that it is not for the normal shopping reasons, but, in the case of us Yanks, for sentimentality. I believe that those of us who have studied our Irish backgrounds, particularly those of us whose families departed because of the Famine, are searching for something we have lost, ethnically. We are trying to reclaim our identities. I think we buy, not for the material value of the item, but rather for its intrinsic value to who we are today. I’ve come to believe the blood runs strong in Celts. I believe what I read about people in the past helps me reaffirm and discover who I, and we, are today. And further, helps us determine where we should go from here, and what we should value.
I think those of us with ethnic memories are drawn to your site. In some respects, perhaps we are trying to pick up the threads and the ties of the cloth that was broken when we were forced to cross the Atlantic so that we can reweave that same cloth”.
Need we say more?
Every Sunday afternoon at approximately 4pm PST we launch all our eBay auctions - so between all the toing and froing - between 50 -150 terrific Irish items are uploaded for you to drool over and the same number are simultaneously finishing. We ONLY sell Irish Antiques or Collectibles - we sell NO reproductions. 98% of all our wee treasures are Irish or have a direct connection with Ireland. So lots of activity here every Sunday afternoon. But remember, this timeframe is the middle of the night for us - so our invoices/emails are usually not sent/responded to, until the following morning. We must dream too!
We have been full time selling on eBay since 1998. But if you wish to read more about us you must go to: www.irelandcountryantiques.com
Feedbacks:
The Feedback system plays a huge important role in eBay trading. Sometimes it can get a bit confusing.
Irish-Celt at present, as we write (8th April 2007) has 5602 positive feedbacks and 3 negative ones. But look down from the positive feedbacks and you see the number 12,195 - that actually is the real figure! eBay do not add (for reasons best known to themselves!) REPEAT customers to the final figure. So we actually have in real terms more than twice as many positive feedbacks than we have showing &nbs put another way we have over 6,500 happy repeat buyers who have bought from us more than once. We think this is wonderful and we keep clapping ourselves on the back about it!
Shipping Rates & Refunds:
On all our auctions, at the end of our item descriptions, we quote the shipping rate. We use a ""World Wide Fixed Shipping Rate" which for every item includes handling, packaging and insurance. We also offer a Money Back Guarantee with every item. No questions asked - if you are not happy with what you bought or if it arrives with damages that were not declared in the description or has been delayed (see below) - we will refund in full immediately. No waiting to claim from insurance companies or anything, we will do it straight away. But if you have a load of nasty negative feedbacks - well now THAT might be a different story.
Bulk & Local Shipping:
We will sometimes give a reduction for bulk shipping - but of course within reason. For example two postcards will travel for the price of one postcard and similar paper items likewise. But a Guinness bottle and a Belleek plate will not travel well together. In fact the opposite - they would travel better separately and may also work out cheaper. In fact our postal system is cheaper for the smaller parcel.
Customers in Ireland:
All who have addresses on the island of Ireland can divide the quoted amount in half.
Shipping from Ireland:
To date (April 2007) we have conducted over 15,000 transactions on Ebays auctions-on-line.
90% of our transactions are shipped to the U.S.A.
We can count on one hand (touch wood and praise the Lords!) the amount of lost, damaged or broken items. We can recall one lot that we assumed was lost arriving four months later!
High Priority air-mail from Ireland takes 7-12 days to the USA and other countries - a little less time to Europe. This is the system we mainly use.
We are prepared to refund immediately any item that you may be concerned about. Then when it does arrive you can re-reimburse us.
A couple of notes about e-mails:
We answer ALL our e-mails every day. If we are away we will let you know on the "About Me" page.
If you are not hearing back from us, please check your spam filters or bulk mail folder because it could be your problem!
All the best
Davoc and Anne

PS. PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS AND ITEM NUMBER WHEN MAILING PAYMENT - IF WE DO NOT GET THIS INFORMATION WE CAN NOT CONCLUDE ANY TRANSACTION.
