THE SHOP -- IslandFunhouse is owned and operated by Jim Bastian, a college-level jazz guitar instructor, performer, and vintage guitar enthusiast.  IslandFunhouse Vintage Guitars + Parts has been involved with both jazz education and the vintage guitar/parts market and now celebrates ten years of e-commerce! ...."We specialize in the Gibson archtop parts, Barney Kessel model, PAF's, tuners, cases, and music education books. We value and encourage self-employed entrepreneurship and are a modern-day example of the 'mom and pop' e-store! Along with trading in vintage parts, we actively pursue performing, writing, publishing, teaching, and recording. Playing music, selling parts, doing restoration work in our shop...this is what we do full-time!  Vintage case restoration a specialty! Be sure to make us one of your 'favorite sellers'. "

THE BOOKS -- Jim has 10 years of college-level teaching experience, and is the author of ten published jazz studies texts, for guitar and trumpet. Among these is the internationally best-selling 3-volume set "How to Play Chordal Bebop Lines, for Guitar".  A project that was funded by a college grant, this work is a ground-breaking method for developing chordal style improvisation, in the style of Wes Montgomery.  "Book II Advanced Chordal Bebop Lines" and "Book III Chorded Solos Workbook" are now available...for the serious practioner of this style.  The texts are available on ebay and by several major jazz education distributors

"As a career musician, I have spent the last 35 years studying, performing, and teaching jazz guitar.  In lessons, I am especially interested in working with motivated adult students who are pro and semi-pro.  I have worked with many pro 'rockers' who wanted to incorporate the techniques and harmonies of jazz in their playing.  Many of my serious jazz students have gone on to full-time playing and teaching careers. Over my career I have studied with top jazz educators...including Tom Carroll (OSU), Joe Negri (University of Pittsburgh),  and Barry Green (University of North Florida).....in so doing I have amassed a large portfolio of lesson materials that offer my students a wealth of resources.  Additionally, my 10 published jazz books provide even more valueable study of the masters.  Call for details on lessons, tailored to your needs.  Most of my students have commented that lessons really got them out of a slump and helped them move themselves to the next level".
