John Dyess Illustrator and Painter self portrait FROM CHILDREN TO seniors, historical to national monuments, music, animals, sports and landscape, the subject matter of my work is diverse. I am a painter, illustrator and teacher creating art and illustration for over 40 years. Clients include many major corporations and companies throughout the U.S. My style is primarily realistic, exhibiting accuracy and draftsmanship. It portrays a tangible "spirit" and relates to viewers of all ages. In contrast, some of my most recent work features more conceptual images, though derived from realism, and combines traditional and digital techniques. My work has been represented in over 30 shows at The St. Louis Artists' Guild and I am honored to have been recognized nationally by the New York Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts Magazine. I have taught illustration and drawing at Washington University, Webster University and currently at Meramec Community College in St. Louis. A mid-American, born and raised, father of 4 and grandfather of 6. My wife, two cats and I live and work in Missouri.
