Why Used Engines from Japan?
Japan public transportation system is one of the most advanced in the world. Bullet trains, subways, and public buses criss-cross the entire country. Still, traffic is very heavy due to the size of the population. For these reasons they prefer to use public transportation while keeping their own cars in the garage. Cars are used mostly on weekends or daily to get to a train station. The average yearly automobile mileage is approximately 5,000 miles. Additionally, Japanese citizens must have their cars inspected every two years. The clean air laws strictly regulate the inspection process, which covers almost every component of the car. Compliance with these laws can cost as much as 20% of the value of the car. Gasoline is also much more expensive than U.S. prices, usually costing more than double. Consumers usually trade in their used cars for new models every 5 to 6 years even though they are in good running condition and have low mileage. It is a matter of pride for them. You rarely see cars older than this on the Japanese streets. Cars with body damage are considered unsafe and not allowed on the streets. Repair labor costs are very high in Japan so cars with body damage and perfectly running engines are sold at auction.
All this means that the average life of a Japanese vehicle is between 25,000 to 50,000 miles (this is only an average and is based on the average mileage of Japanese cars). Those vehicles are disassembled and the low-mileage engines and transmissions become available for resale.
WARRANTY
JDM of Miami engines & transmissions carry 30 days warranty from the date shown on invoice. This warranty does not apply to rotary engines or any engine used for competition purposes. WE WARRANTY ONLY THE LONG BLOCK WITH A START UP WARRANTY FOR 30 DAYS. Our warranty covers only the internal parts of engine.
What our warranty COVERS:
All internal engine parts including pistons, piston rings, piston pins, crankshafts and main bearing, connecting rods and rod bearings, camshafts and camshaft bearings, timing chains and gears, intake and exhaust valves, springs, seals and guides, oil pumps, and push rods. The engines block, cylinder barrels and cylinder head are also warranted to be free of cracks or distortion. In the event of a defective engine block or head, we will be responsible to replace or fix the defective part, at our discretion.
What parts and circumstances our warranty DOES NOT COVER:
OUR WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER EXTERNAL PARTS. All external parts attached to the engine, e. g. turbochargers, superchargers, intake and exhaust manifolds, carburetor, distributor, alternator, starter, emission control devices, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, water pump, thermostat, belts, hoses, timing belt, timing chain, pulleys, oil pan, etc. All labor must be done by a certified ASE mechanic. Any engine or parts that are found to have been overheated or show any signs of damage due to improper or unqualified installation procedures. The loss of engine, if the engine is red-lined or competitively raced. Loss caused by modification or forced induction (NOS, Turbo, Supercharger) for which the engine was not designed. JDM of Miami is not responsible if the engine purchased does not fit into your vehicle. Before purchasing the engine, verify that the engine will fit into your vehicle. The warranty does not cover any labor charges whatsoever for any reason; nor does it cover towing, car rental, or any other incidental charges. We are not responsible for the failure of emissions and smog tests. Make sure the engine is not open; if the engine is open the warranty will be voided.
