A Little EFA Doll made by me
|
It all began when I became unemployed . I had extra time on my hands while job searching so I made a very primitive style Raggedy Ann doll. I sent an email picture to my daughter-in-law, Leslie, who told me I should make dolls and sell them on Ebay. Her enthusiasm sparked a flame that started a fire that's been ongoing ever since - making my cloth dolls! Thanks to her I was on my way. I am always amazed at the end result of each doll I make, sometimes I feel as if they create themselves! I enjoy making little Raggedy Ann style dolls who are very prim but sweet, stuffed with lots of personality. I also enjoy making EFA style dolls, Edith Flack Ackley was this wonderful doll artist’s from the 1930s. I love using her pattern for the baby doll and the tiny doll house size dolls.
I have also made many dolls using my own design, colonial dolls, cloth versions of Hitty and too many other styles to mention.
My dolls are all made with lots of love and attention to detail. I do not use any patterns or templates for their faces, making each doll truly unique. Each doll is signed and dated as an original Jelliesjams design. I love using vintage fabrics, buttons and even vintage baby clothes or at times vintage doll clothes for my dolls, passing along a bit of history with them.
A Little About Me. . .
I learned to sew by watching my mother, one of the most incredible women I have ever known. Her talents were unlimited. My father was a very talented wood carving artist whose work won awards in many art shows. I feel I was blessed to be born into my family!
I have a Raggedy Ann style doll which I made - I called her Chocolate Kisses-displayed in Dancing Bear Folk Center Museum in Wyoming. The Raggedy Ann display they have was coordinated by Joni Gruelle. I am honored that one of my little Rag Dolls was chosen to be part of this display. Two of my dolls were purchased by an antique doll collector and dealer in antiques. Two of my little EFA dolls were purchased by a wonderful lady who is renovating the Edith Flack Ackley Home. My little dolls went with her to visit a woman who owned an original EFA doll. My little dolls and I were honored, they even had their photo taken with the EFA doll.
THANK YOU
I have met many wonderful people who have "adopted" my dolls from my Ebay auctions. I hope to meet many more who will share my love of primitive style dolls. To everyone who has purchased one of my dolls I say THANK YOU!
You can always reach me in my sewing room, I am just an email away! Any questions, please write, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for looking at my dolls up for adoption.
