My feedback shows I try hard to make sure the people I sell to or buy from are happy.
When I'm a seller, why buy from me? See my feedback.
I charge honest shipping rates rather than try to evade fees, or to make my price look better by diverting part of my gain into postage or "handling" because I know when I list that I have to ship what I sell. I will also never surprise the buyer with a whopping undisclosed shipping charge as one seller recently did to me ($20 shipping for a light bulb).
I answer emails.
I make every effort to make sure the customer is happy.
I accept PayPal despite the fees, because I know how many people find it convenient. (And frankly I get more for a listing because more people bid.)
I will not do reserve auctions, because I understand many eBayers feel that's like going to a used car dealership where the plaid-suit guy won't tell you the asking price until you tell him what you can afford.
I provide feedback when the buyer wins an auction and pays on time. I don't hold feedback hostage until the buyer provides feedback, because that's not a fair and honest condition that sets good buyers apart from bad buyers--withholding feedback until that point is a not-so-subtle form of pressure to rate the seller positively. (I do appreciate feedback, though. That's how we can all tell the good guys from the bad guys from the stunningly inept guys.)
I will not put "Not [some other brand]" in my title to snag people looking for the other brand when I'm not selling the other brand.
I will not deliberately list something in the wrong category, like plans for a fresnel lens tv projector in with the LCD projectors category. I respect the eBayers here and I know they don't want to have to wade through tons of incorrectly classified crap to get to what they're actually searching for.
I will avoid ending an aution prematurely to sell to a bidder who's impatient, because that wastes the time of all the other potential bidders.
I will avoid an email-preapproved-bidders-list auction because that always feels like a scam to deal direct to evade commissions, and I'm on eBay to use eBay.
And my boilerplate focuses on what I will do for you rather than what I refuse to do for you.
Thanks for considering a bid.
