Jest Music & Games, Inc. came online to eBay in August 2001. It all started for me at the age of 15, my main goal at the time was to work in a music store. Finally in 1993 I started, as I like to call it, poor man's collage, working in a record store. A year later I was an asst. manager and going to a brand new store that was opened when Blockbuster Music took over.
Over my years working I had seen the change in cd sales. I saw the store, in the "rich area" of town, go from over 2 million a year in sales to under one million in one years time. I knew things were changing with mp3's and the internet and everytime I was offered to run my own Blockbuster Music/Wherehouse Music I turned it down. I had a feeling I could buy more time being an Asst manager rather than a full Store Manager. With the next couple of years, 11+ music stores in St. Louis by various companies had closed.
Around the year 2000 I still had not really been on the internet and was not too sure of its powers. About this time I had met my wife and I got my first computer and started to understand the power the internet had to offer. With over 9 years worth in my personal cd collection I started selling it one by one on eBay. In 2001 I finally quit my full time Asst Manager job, we took the second from the house and started the business you see here.
Jest Music is ran mostly by me, with the help of the rest of the family when time permits, and not some big corporation. I am always trying to grow it bigger so maybe one day the 2nd from the house will be paid off. One thing that was strange was just a year after quitting my job at the music store I was back there, not as a worker, but as a business oowner buying out the inventory being they were closing the doors. I am truely thankful for everyone who buys from me, this is not only my "bread & butter" but my love since the age of 15. Thank you for helping to support my dream.
