Jewelry No.68 is a small jewelry shop owned by me...otherwise
known as Wendy.
I attempt to find interesting items that are unique in design and
are well crafted pieces at reasonably affordable prices.
I bring to the table many years of jewelry design experience,
along with a background of general design and fine art design. I am trained as
a fine artist with a degree in fine arts. I also studied graphic design in
college, and continued my study through specialized graphic design education
and certificate programs. I have exhibited my paintings in Hawaii, California
and Maryland. I have been honored to have been invited to participate in many
one man (woman in this case) art shows featuring my work. Along with the
exhibition of my paintings, I was also able to exhibit my jewelry designs,
which were gold pieces, containing precious and semi precious stones. Most of my designs were signed and
numbered limited edition pieces.
Aside from having my fifteen minutes of fame, with newspaper
articles, magazine articles and TV commercials featuring my paintings, I was
also approached by the Franklin Mint to submit my portfolio. I currently also
do graphic design and I have had my work featured in many TV shows and
movies. Examples of recent work
would be "The Unit for Fox/CBS" "Still Standing a sitcom for Fox
and CBS" "Checking Out a feature film with Peter Falk" "Flicka
also a feature film starring Tim McGraw.”
Some of my business background comes from owning and successfully
operating my own Graphic Design company for the last 15 years.
On the jewelry side of my background, I studied diamond grading at
the Gemological Institute of America and achieved my rating as a certified
diamond grader in 1988. Additionally I completed several workshops in wax
modeling, investment casting and jewelry finishing in 1988 and more advanced
workshops in 1990. In 1992 I began an intensive full time jewelry education,
learning advanced wax modeling techniques, advanced casting, jewelry finishing,
and stone setting, which included, bezel, prong, channel and flush
setting. Upon the completion of
these courses, I went on to continue learning through a 1-year apprenticeship
with the owner/jewelry designer of the school I attended whose credentials
included the head of the jewelry-manufacturing department of the Gemological
Institute of America located in Santa Monica, Calif.
My goals are to continue to offer affordable jewelry in the
alternative metals now widely accepted by the community and to introduce higher
end pieces and my own designs into the inventory as time permits and the
business continues to grow and thrive.
I pride myself in above and beyond ethical behavior. I believe in "paying it
forward" and the good things will come. I operate with total honesty and integrity and I believe in
human nature and will bend over backwards to make sure my customers are happy.
I do not believe in negative marketing to up myself over my
competitor and it is my belief that there is enough wealth or success to go
around. Overall...I sleep at night
because I believe in doing the right thing.
I love my family, my daughter Melissa and my dog KIKO.
