Welcome to My World - where, like the rocks and gems I work with, I have found freedom from the need for perfection!
First let me say thank you for visiting with me. As you may have guessed my name is Jim of Jim's Gems & Jewelry. Included is a not so flattering, but unfortunately accurate, picture of me at one of my gem & jewelry shows. I became interested in rocks and gems after going rockhounding with my father in law and began cutting stones shortly thereafter. So I have been doing lapidary work since about 1972 and officially opened my business in 1993. Although this is not my only profession, I also work in the medical field, I can say that working with rocks and gems is what I truly love to do. I believe that what nature has created is among the most beautiful things on this planet. I can only take credit for helping to bring out the beauty of these stones and mounting them in jewelry. I especially love using stones in as close to their natural state as possible.
In additon to making custom jewelry I frequently buy estate jewelry and can often bring you some very good buys on more conventional jewelry.
