 Before my mother knew that I was in her tummy, she rode a horse -- for the first time in her life.  My mom is one of those people who "tolerates" animals.  If she had her way, none of her children would have ever had pets.  Her horse adventure was TOTALLY out of character, but family folklore "blames" her ride for my obsession with all things equine.

 I began drawing recognizable horses by the time I was 3 years old.  The inside covers of my parents' Bibles, annuals, and other books were my first sketchbooks.  I guess that they were lucky that I didn't draw on the walls of our house.

 After repeated begging, I got my first pony when I was 6 years old -- a silver dappled Shetland mare.  I was a tall child -- in a year or two, my legs almost touched the ground as I rode her.  My beloved pony was sold to friends -- for their much smaller child.

 The relentless begging continued until I was sixteen.  For my birthday, I received a grade Quarter Horse mare that had been bred to a son of the famous Three Bar.  The filly that was born soon after became my dear companion for a major part of my life.  She passed away at 30 years of age and is buried in my backyard.

 During the years, I have owned other horses, ponies, and one very special donkey.  I have also been "owned" by dogs, cats, chinchillas, cows, and rabbits -- much to the distress of my poor mother.  Lost or dumped animals always end up in my yard.  It is almost like I was born with a homing device that only animals could sense.

 My love of animals is expressed in my art.  To me, the only thing better than drawing or painting animals is spending time with them.

 I now live in the rural South on almost 3 acres.  Currently, I am "owned" by two ponies, two Jack Russell mix dogs, and one calico cat.  My mini-farm is frequently visited by deer, possums, raccoons, Candian geese, mallards, armadillos, foxes, skunks, and a coyote.  Yes, I live in "heaven".

 For a large part of my life, art was on the back-burner.  Born with a "type A" personality, I have always made work a priority.  Through recent events in my life, God has shown me that ALL work and NO art makes for a very dull life.  I thank God each and every day for opening my eyes and giving me the opportunity to create and to share my artwork with others.  I also pray that my art will somehow be a witness of my faith.

 I have been selling my art on ebay since December of 2006.  While browsing through the art section during Thanksgiving of 2006, I stumbled upon the most fascinating type of art -- ACEO's.  I searched the ACEO's for a couple of weeks, then took a chance and drew a unicorn.  I listed it and it SOLD!!  I was HOOKED!!  I now spend a large part of my free time creating these little treasures -- always 2.5" X 3.5".

 My ACEO subjects have included horses, pegasus, unicorns, cats, dogs, raccoons, geese, mermaids, pigs, rabbits, possums, fairies, angels, lions, sheep, donkeys, and other animals.  If you have a particular animal that you would like to see on an ACEO, feel free to contact me -- I will try to see if I can work it into my schedule.
