My purchase policies

Hello,

This eBay page is an open letter to eBay sellers and more importantly, directed towards those sellers that I buy items from.  Or in instances where I'm the seller, an open letter to my customers and my promise for excellence.

I am a vintage video game collector.  I'm not the only one out there.  In fact, I am only one out of many, but I think a lot of us have the same concerns.  Really, we're not asking for much - we just want quality, and it seems like more and more sellers are popping up that simply don't care.

I for one am just plain tired of dealing with eBay sellers that engage in the following practices:

  • Take absolutely no pride in their business.
  • Don't properly describe an item.
  • Use stock photos or inaccurate photos.
  • Hide details about an item even if not trying to be deceitful.
  • Overcharging on shipping to avoid eBay fees.
  • Using cheap and ineffective bubble mailers.
  • Don't answer questions from buyers in a timely manner.
  • Hold feedback as hostage.
  • Leave negative feedback in retaliation because of their ignorance.
  • Expect the buyer to pay to ship something back if its broken or not properly packaged for shipping.
  • Hide behind five pages of BS disclaimers that are excuses for their bad behavior.
  • Hide profits in shipping costs.
  • Require me to use expensive shipping just because they are too lazy to go to the post office.
  • Add additional costs after the auction ends.

If you engage in these kinds of practices and don't correct the problem when I notify you about it, then you should expect to receive negative feedback from me.  Don't even think for a second that holding feedback hostage scares me as it doesn't!  If you deserve it, you get it!

When I buy something from you, you can expect a timely payment.  If you think there is a delay in payment, I expect you to let me know.  Since I pay very quickly, I expect timely shipment of the items I bought.   If you only ship on certain days, or if there is a planned delay, you should state such in your auction.

If you're not going to communicate with your customers and if you're going to play goofy games with the items they have purchased, then you don't belong here.   If that's how you run your business, then refund my payment if I've bought something from you.  I do file complaints if needed.

If I'm waiting to combine multiple items into one shipment to help save on shipping costs, I will ask for your permission if not stated in your auction.   I appreciate those sellers that do this, and really appreciate sellers that state they will do this in their auctions.

If I'm the seller, there are some things you can expect from me:

  • I will put images of the actual item in the auction.
  • I will try to fairly describe the item.
  • If there is not enough details in the description or the picture, I will answer any specific questions as soon as possible.
  • If you need more images of an auction item, I will send them as soon as possible.
  • I will package your item as if I were packaging it for myself.
  • I will not rip you off on shipping.
  • I will combine items from multiple auctions to save you the shipping costs.
  • In the rare instance that the online shipping calculator comes up too high, I will refund the shipping difference if so desired.  This doesn't happen often, but when it does, its usually a very small amount.
  • If you need an exact shipping quote, email me well before the item ends with your complete shipping address.
  • If you pay me quickly, I ship quickly.
  • If you pay slowly, I reserve the right to package and ship those that paid quickly ahead of your package.

If you don't like what you've read, then most likely you fall into that category of a questionable seller.  If I've bought something from you and you don't like my terms, then refund my payment.  I have no problems letting you out of an auction as I don't want to deal with sellers with poor business practices anyways.

Regards,
jkurtz1
