John Lorts, founder of the Shetland Group LLC, has over forty years experience in coin collecting and as a part time Numismatic Dealer. John is now retired from a career in Electronics Engineering and Logistics Management, and is devoting full-time to Numismatic sales and services.

During the past several years, John has attended many classes at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) in order to increase his knowledge and better serve his customers. Classes included the study of U.S. Coins Basic Grading,  Advanced Grading with Problem Coins and Counterfeit Detection U.S. Coins as well as specialized study of Early U.S. Copper, Indian Cents, Buffalo Nickels, Mercury Dimes, Half Dollars, Gold & Silver Dollars.

John is a life member of  both the ANA and the California State Numismatic Association.
