No resin castings here!

I also make crushed bales.

I've been a collector and operator of model trains for many years. I was in need of a scrap metal load for several gondola cars and was unhappy with the many resin casting available. I made my first junk loads from plastic, wood, wire, and any other bits that could be swept from the basement floor. My friends at the club layout were impressed enough to inquire if I could do the same for many of their cars. Thus, Johnny's Junk Heap was born. I refined my production methods and can generally create 4 or 5 pounds of junk per month. Caboose Hobbies here in Denver was impressed enough with my loose junk and also my scrap aluminium bales to buy and stock my products.
All of my junk is made by hand, by me, in my basement in Colorado. Each batch is slightly different from the last. Junk made last year isn't the same a junk made today or junk produced tommorow. Through much trial and error I've settled on a secret mixture of smashed plastic, chopped metal, old parts, and even torn bits of rubber to produce my rust colored scrap metal. Most people say it looks pretty good! It's best used in HO scale but can also be made to work in O and N scales.
