Answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

Question: Do you ship worldwide?

Yes we ship worldwide. But please allow a few extra days for certain locations as we have no control over any Postal and Customs services.

Question:
Do you pass on combined shipping savings?

When buying two or more items we will mail an invoice reflecting your shipping savings. We always pass on combined shipping savings to you, the buyer! EU buyers will receive a refund for any shipping over charge.

Question:
Which Postal Service do you use?

We use both the Belgian mail service and also the Dutch TNT Post mail service depending on which service offers the best rate for a given parcel.

Question: Some sellers say they are not responsible for any postal problems?

We assume all responsibility for safe delivery.

Question: Are all your items vintage or antique or do you also carry reproductions?

We never knowingly will carry any reproductions. But mind, the term "reproduction" can be confusing. Consider: A mold blown bottle produced a hundred years ago is a genuine antique today. A bottle produced today in the same antique mold is not antique, but nor is it a reproduction. A bottle blown in a contemporary copy of the original mold is not antique; it is a reproduction. But were the mold a copied one and the bottle blown in it a hundred years ago, the bottle still would be a reproduction and also an antique.

Question:You carry a lot of Dutch chip carved items. What kind of wood was most popular with Dutch chip carvers?

Woods like Pear, Oak, Mahogany and Walnut were used, but most popular by far were Linden (Tilia Vulgaris) or Tilia Americana, more commonly known as Basswood.

Question: What do you recommend for maintenance of your items?

For maintenance of wooden antique items we recommend the use of a good quality paste wax. Don't use oil on a previously paste waxed item as the oil will tend to dissolve the previously used wax and create a smudgy mess. We would also not recommend products containing silicones as they will always interfere with any possible future refinishing efforts.
