It Was "Just An Excuse" To Go To Disneyland!

The Framed Pin Set That Started It All
|
It all started at Disneyland in 2002 with a Tinker Bell framed pin set that my wife wanted, but thought was too expensive. Later in the day, she decided she really did want it. Of course when we went back to buy it the shop was sold out of them. The whole park was sold out as well. We were both Power Buyers at the time, so I said I would just find one on eBay for her, which I did, for three times the retail price. Needless to say, I did not buy it. When we returned to Disneyland a few weeks later we found the Pin set was in stock again. This time we bought three, one for her and two to sell on eBay. They sold for three times the retail within a day of listing them, we were hooked. Disneyland has always been our favorite place to spend time with each other and our family. Selling on eBay became Just An Excuse to go to Disneyland at first and then to Walt Disney World.
Today we carry hundreds of different Disney items in our eBay store. Browse through our listings and you will quickly learn whom our favorite Disney character is. It is the same one that started it all of course, Ms Tinker Bell. We are proud to be Gold Powersellers and members of BUYSAFE. Mom & Dad with the Just An Excuse Gang at Disneyland

When we first started, both of us had full time jobs. In the spring of 2004 I injured both knees at work. After multiple surgeries and months of physical therapy I was told that I would be unable to continue working as a plumber. eBay would no longer be Just An Excuse to go to Disneyland, it would have to be my full time job. We attended an eBay University in Chicago for pointers and came home very exited about the possibilities. I soon discovered that time in meant dollars out. My wife says "eBay is like a gas, it expands to fill in all available space," and time. Sales took off and we had to keep expanding our shop to hold the new merchandise. Everything was great.
That fall, my father-in-law become ill, the diagnosis was cancer. Dad asked me to come stay with him in Chicago. He would need full time help and Mom could not do what would need to be done by herself. The rest of the family had full time jobs. eBay allowed me to leave Arizona and be with him through the months of tests and treatments he would need. My wife and son packed and shipped from Arizona while I listed and invoiced from Illinois. We were a cross country team. Dad passed away in his sleep knowing we were able to continue taking care of Mom when he could not. No matter how our business does, we will always have eBay to thank for allowing that happen. So THANK YOU eBay!
