We use only the highest quality silk fabrics and each piece is carefully handmade in the latest fashion colors. Katherine Munro is a silk artist born in Newfoundland Canada who now resides in Nova Scotia with her family. She has been a creative explorer all of her life always finding new and different things to make and do. She began as a watercolor painter and has recently switched to fabric dyes on silk and other natural fabrics as her preferred medium. She works out of her home studio and also teaches at times both privately and to small groups. She offers instructions in silk painting on her Dakini Silks website for anyone who would like to try their hand at this rewarding art form. Hand Painted Silk Scarf Katherine has studied art both formally and just by experimenting on her own. She studied fine art in Mexico at the University of Mexico in Mexico City and also studied for 3 years in Taxco at the local art college. She has worked as a mural painter and a graphic designer but mostly has been self employed. She's had some solo and group shows mainly in St. John's, Newfoundland and also have participated in many craft shows throughout Atlantic Canada.
