What is the KBM Games story?
Our company got started in the fall of 2006. I was teaching our oldest son how to play "Magic the Gathering". I had played the game when it was brand new, almost two decades ago and still had the original glass tokens and counters. My son desperately wanted his own set. Long story short, we could not find the tokens for sale anywhere. Sure we could find, larger glass tokens, but not the small ones.
I eventually found a supplier of glass tokens in the right size, and a supplier of velvet pouches. I had to by the tokens and pouches in bulk. After my son and his friends all had sets, we had a lot of left over material. My son, quickly reasoned that other kids would want these tokens and we should sell them.
We have been expanding the product line ever since. Every toy we sell, has found its place in our home. Whether it is playing frisbee in our cul-de-sac during the summer or excavating a dino dig at the kitchen table, we have used every toy we sell.
As our company grew, we began to consume a large number of shipping labels. We quickly realized that paying over $0.20 a label was not a good idea. My father in law owns and operates a large label manufacturing company. They specialize in custom labels, the kind you see on just about every product. After some negotiations, he began to print our shipping labels. We are able to offer a variety of high quality labels significantly below retail prices.
Not sure what the next chapter will be for KBM Games. Right now we are contemplating splitting the toy and label business into two different companies. Feel free to drop us an email and share your thought.
Cheers,
Matt Dolph
