We make our products the old fashioned way. My jams are made with berries picked from my farm and sugar. Just two ingredients to make the best jam ever. My pickles are made from the vegetables from our garden and the pickled eggs are from our organically raised chickens.

King Farm's

WE LIVE IN THE FOOTHILLS OF MAINE IN A SMALL LITTLE TOWN OF 400 RESIDENTS. WE ARE SURROUNDED BY MOUNTAINS, MAPLE AND BIRCH TREES.

 

WE HAVE ABOUT 40 DEER THAT CROSS OUR PROPERTY IN THE WINTER EVERYNIGHT AT ABOUT 4:30PM.  WE HAVE HAD A MOOSE, FOX AND BOBCAT CROSS OVER ON OUR PROPERTY TOO.

 

  

  WE STARTED OUR FARM OVER 3 YEARS AGO AND WE KEEP EXPANDING. BESIDES OUR 1/2 ACRE OF GARDEN WE HAVE 35 TURKEYS, 25 BROILERS, 150 HENS, 17 SHEEP, 5 GOATS, 3 PIGS, 9 RABBITS AND 3 CATS. 

We have started, 3 varieties of apple tree, pear,plum, apricot and cherry trees too.  We started more Raspberry canes and cherry bushes.  This year we are trying grapes.

WE SELL THE MEAT WE RAISE, VEGETABLES, PRESERVES, FRUIT AND QUILTS. 


THE KIDS ATTEND A 2 ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE.  THE SCHOOL HAS K THRU 6 AND A TOTAL OF 17 KIDS IN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL.THE 3 KIDS HAVE CHORES BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL.  THE KIDS ARE AGES 6 TO 14.  EVERYONE HAS A JOB TO HELP OUT ON OUR FARM.

AS A FAMILY WE HAVE TRIED TO ENSURE TO OUR CHILDREN THE IMPORTANCE OF WORKING AS A TEAM.  ALL OF THE PROJECTS HERE IS DONE AS A FAMILY. 

 		 

Our two oldest children (12 & 14) took a loan out with the USDA for there own animals: One has Sheep, Goats and a Lawn Service and the other raises Organic Pork, Chicken and Turkey.  They had to figure out costs of purchase, feed and vet costs.  Both had to come up with a marketing plan to profit from there animals to pay back the loan.  They are the only kids in Franklin County that are participating in the program.  They made enough to cover the first payment with enough to buy more animals this year.  I am more than happy to help them with there success.    Come and visit our farm and see for yourself.
