Statement from the artist
I have been an artist working in many mediums and styles since my youth in Connecticut. I was lucky enough to attend schools with excellent art programs where I had the opportunity to learn about everything from painting to photography to sculpture. Modern art and photography have formed my passions for as long as I can remember.
I graduated from Connecticut College in New London, Ct. where I majored in Anthropology and minored in Japanese. I spent much of my time in the art department along with my other studies and many days and nights in the dark room developing my photography skills. Much of my artwork has been influenced by my cross-cultural studies. During my college years, I was able to study abroad in Japan which has made a deep impression on much of my artistic sensibilities. I am now studying art through the post-baccalaureate visual arts program at UC Berkeley.
Since graduation, I have traveled and lived in many areas of the United States with my Coast Guard husband and children. We have had the chance to reside in Alaska, New Orleans, and now on the west coast near San Francisco. Travel has given me the opportunity for contact with all kinds of art, from the simple and powerful petroglyphs of the native American cultures to the vibrant colors and life of New Orleans.
