I was born in New London, Conn on the Thames River. My parents, both deceased, were active in the arts and theatre. My grandmother schlepped me to Broadway and the NYC Museums twice a month on the 6:00am Milk Train. There I had lunch with Picasso, sat on phonebooks to watch Oliver, and napped on the bench by Canne. There was never a time when there wasn color, paint, clay, dye, sand, and plaster in my life. I was schooled in pottery at the age of 4, in a small studio in New London every Saturday. I continued at the Lyman Allen Museum with painting and clay. I then went on to other media but always maintaining a relationship with stoneware. I love the wheel, but hand building was really my passion.
I attended The Meeting School in Rindge New Hampshire for high school. A small Quaker School at the base of Mt. Manadnock. I ended up in Vermont because I wanted to be a teacher. I have a BA from Johnson, a Masters from UVM in Curriculum Design and a 6th year certificate from the University of New Mexico. I was in the process of starting a doctorate degree in Reading at Yale when I met my second husband. We moved back to Vermont were I taught in Hyde Park until I retired, after 22 years of teaching, to peruse my art career.
