WHO IS LA BELLE VINTAGE?

LA BELLE VINTAGE formerly LA BELLE COUTURIERE is a family owned establishment and has been in existence since 1947. Our family has been in the dressmaking and haberdashery business since the 1890's. Fashion and design has been in our family since the beginning and runs almost literally through our veins. It isn't something we woke up one morning and decided to do...we actually have been this business for a very long time. We love what we do and we know what we're doing :o)

WHATCHA' SELLIN'?

We sell a variety of items including clothing, accessories, antiques, jewelry etc. We specialize in Vintage and Antique clothing. All of our items are placed within our stores with taste and exceptional care. We will never sell something that we ourselves would not wear or place in our homes.

VINTAGE ITEMS = OLD ITEMS

Please take this into consideration when purchasing from us. Vintage does not mean "vintage styled". Our inventory consists of items more than 50 years old. More than likely, the item you buy from us may have been worn...maybe worn a few times. We do have occasional MINT/UNWORN items, but for the most part, our items have been previously loved and used. Items sent will be very wearable by our standards before being sent out. So please, no more phone calls at 3am to tell me that you think someone wore your dress...someone did wear your dress...probably wore it 100 years ago.

WHY DON'T YOU HAVE MORE ITEMS?

We like our customers to feel satisfied with their purchases. Therefore, we take every step to ensure that the items that you receive are clean and wearable upon receipt. Cleaning and repairing vintage items is sometimes a long and arduous task. You won't find over 200 items in our store or booths as we like to give you the personalized "boutique" experience.

This is not a "one-stop" shop. You won't find shoes from this season sold alongside with a 1930's Art Deco dress. It's just not how we do things. We do occasionally have the wicked "era look" garments like 50's inspired dresses, but these will be far and in between. This is a vintage store, so you will find vintage items.
We also travel a great deal so we always have gorgeous and sometimes rare items available just for you :o)

IS MY DRESS CLEAN?

Items are always sent to you in a ready to wear condition. We either carefully launder and iron our items, steam, press or have them dry cleaned before sending. We NEVER use items such as Febreeze or Dryel as those are not cleaning agents. They are only used to mask odors and will leave dirt and residue in your vintage garment...so trust us, we know our stuff :o)
If however, the item cannot be cleaned by any of our methods, we will be sure to mention that.

DO NOT contact us with time-wasting questions about issues regarding flaws. If there is a flaw, it will be mentioned and a photo of the flaw will be provided. If its is in perfect condition with nothing to report, there will be no condition report. We do not forget to mention flaws or leave them out.

Ebayers with "O" feedback MUST contact me before bidding. Your bid will be canceled if you do not contact me first.

PAYMENT

We appreciate payment in 5 days unless your purchase is on layaway. Can't pay within the 5 days? Drop us a line...we are sure that we can work something out.

SHIPPING

We NEVER charge a handling fee!!!
We ship our items via Priority mail or First class mail at least 3 times per week. A tracking number is always included and will be forwarded to you when your item has been shipped. If an item is considerably heavy, weighing 15lbs or more, we will accommodate you by shipping via UPS or DHL. Their shipping prices can sometimes be cheaper than USPS. We ship via Priority mail or First Class Mail for international purchases but can ship via Express International if you prefer.
If you need your item in a hurry, please contact us. We will be glad to ship the same day.

MEASUREMENTS

FABRIC

We always describe the fabric used in every auction. It helps customers from returning dresses because they think that rayon faille is silk. We give a brief description so that you will know what to expect. Please see our "Know Your Vintage Fabrics" guide for more details on vintage fabrics.
Do know that you can always contact us for more details on any fabric described.

WHY DON'T I LOOK JUST LIKE THE PICTURE IN YOUR AUCTION?

Simply because you may not have the same shape as the mannequin/dress form...no impertinence intended. This is a question we get asked quite often. We have several dress forms and mannequins that range from a size 2 to a size 12, we dress them accordingly to the size of the garment. If the dress may be too large or a bigger size, it is clipped, NOT PINNED to the said dress form for presentation purposes. If you need a photo of an item laid flat or on a hanger for better perception, do not hesitate to contact us.

FEEDBACK

We go above and beyond to ensure that you are happy with your item. If for some reason you are not happy, (let's say your boyfriend doesn't like the dress or you don't look like the photo in the auction), do not leave a star rating dependent on your boyfriend's taste or your preconceived notions.
We accurately describe and measure our items. Items are cleaned before shipping. Items are securely wrapped in acid free tissue paper, packaged and shipped on time. We send at least 4 emails thanking you for a sale, thanking for your payment, contacting when you item has been shipped and then a follow up email.
This is alot more than you would get from many sellers. If you do not think that this qualifies for 5 star feedback, please feel free to let us know what does. We are always open for suggestions.

Leaving negative/neutral feedback without contacting us first is as pleasant as a root canal treatment.

Just do a name search for La Belle Vintage or look for our logo anywhere. You can find us on Etsy, Ecrater, Specialist Auctions, and our website.
If you're in NY and would like to check us out, come visit us at one our booths. We can sometimes be found at the Saint Nicholas of Tolentine Antique Market in Queens or at Annex/Hell's Kitchen flea market in Manhattan.
