"Here I Go" The start of the adventures of Louisa.
|
Welcome! It's so nice to meet you. My name is LaRinda and these are my *Offerings*.
Both my mother and my aunt are artists, so I grew up around the world of western and wildlife art. From an early age I loved paper, pens, photos and all the fun stuff to be found in art or office supply stores (one of my early favorite stores also sold caramel candy in the front, which helped!). In kindergarten I discovered that I had favorite letters (this one really stumped my father, but it made perfect sense to me--some of them are just prettier than others!) and as I grew older I made my own paper dolls and loved my marker sets--no Crayolas for me, mine were the expensive set. I edited the school paper, then went on to study writing, eventually finding my way into graphic design and print buying. Along the way I've dabbled in almost every craft I can think of.
But I always find myself returning to fibers, whether they be paper or fabric. After deciding to stay home with our lovely little people, I have found time to play and indulge these loves and discovered the wonderful world of mixed media. The journey from there to here has also involved a relationship with Christ, which is reflected in many of my works. My love of letterforms has never left and I greatly enjoy using Scripture, along with other uplifting and encouraging sayings and verse, in my art.
