More moons ago than I have fingers to remember (even if I count in binary), I did a degree in Electronics. That did the trick - it was many years before I could bring myself to pick up a soldering iron again.
Then a while back, I came by some old ex-equipment nixie tubes. You could actually see into these things. I had also "discovered" the wonderful PIC microchips around the same time, and had been thinking how they were a solution to a problem I couldn't yet see. Then I realised how I could marry 1960's Cold War display technology with 21C electronics and with a bit of imagination to create a really neat timepiece. The rest, as they say, is horology...
Of course, there are other nixie clocks "out there". But I believe most people are looking for more than a bag (often just half a bag) of bits. When you buy one of my timepieces, you get everything you need, down to the last nut and bolt. You get all my experience, and the valued feedback of my many past customers influencing the functionality and features of a mature, thoughtful design. My products come in a presentable case (most certainly NOT a biscuit tin or similar!). I always include extensive paper documentation and my continued support, should you ever need it.
