who, or what, is an evil ogi?
evil ogi is a nick name I acquired at a staff Christmas party many years ago, when the MC couldn't read my name on a ballot, so she improvised and came up with Ogi. The name, unfortunately, stuck. When I decided to start my Garb Co., I wanted a name that would stand out from the rest of the traditional ones, and so evil ogi's garb was born. I've been costuming for too many years to count. I know I made elaborate medieval costumes for my Barbie dolls as a kid, as I still have them. I also took a year to make myself an extensive historical paper doll set when I was 13. I ended up with 18 dolls, and over 235 gowns! (As a point of interest: Looking back, most of them were Elizabethan, a period in which I don't play with too much.)
Ten years ago when I started with the SCA, I made some costumes for myself and friends. It expanded from there! When I decided to change my persona, or rather define it in costume details, I wanted to find a period in history where I felt most comfortable wearing the garb. To do this, I made outfits from various eras and locations, tried them on, and decided yay or nay. The ones I wasn't interested in were sold off. The rest is history! Evil Ogi's Garb now supplies Renaissance and Medieval apparel and finishing touches to customers from all over Canada, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. Each gown, dress, bodice, or piece of jewelry is carefully handcrafted and unique. I try to never make the same design twice, or use the same fabric. This keeps it interesting for me, and lets my customers know that they are not shopping from a department store.
We have just recently expanded onto Etsy as well. However, variety is the spice of life, and we will be offering a few new and different things there. Currently we are in the process of building cloth diva grocery bags, wire tiaras, hair fascinators, and perhaps a few more surprises. Come check us out... RecycledRockstah at Etsy!
