I am a retired disabled Registered Nurse. I worked in the local Emergency Department for greater than 12 years. I had back problems, which became worse after getting hurt at work lifting a patient who was in cardiac arrest. When one of the ER doctors went into private practice, he had me go with him as his nurse and I worked in the office for 4 years. After 4 years I could take the pain no more, so I had major lower back surgery to correct it. That was 2 1/2 years ago. I had over 30 hours on the operating table in 2 sessions a week apart, and then had neck surgery 6 months later. I cannot move my back from the shoulders down due to rods and fusions. The recovery from the lower back surgery took 18 months! I am unable to work as a nurse now.
I have always loved dolls, and fairies, even as a child. In high school I used to sculpt and decided to try the art again. I also reborn dolls, and sell doll kits at times here. Friends & Patients that I had taken care of during my career, find the dolls for me at thrift shops, garage sales, and from family. They bring them to me, and I make them into doll kits to sell. This helps give me some income.
I have sewn clothes since I was 11 years old, an while my children were little, I did sewing for others, and alterations. I made prom & wedding dresses,( many of which I designed) and other clothing. This allowed me to stay home with my small children. I did alterations & repairs for many of the dry cleaners in our area, and also for clothing stores.
