The Owner/Operator Dave White has been skating since 1960 (at the age of 10) and worked in Roller Skating rinks since he was 12. Dave Built his First Skateboard from a Pair of Rollerskates at the age of 13, turned Pro as a Rollerskater in 1974 and Operating Sherman Square Roller Rink in Reseda CA, as well as teaching Freestyle and running the pro Shop Selling Skates and Boards until the end of 1978. Dave Started his Own Skate Shop in 1979 under the Name hot Skates in Glendale CA - Selling SkateBoards and Rollerskates - In 1980 Dave took over Starlight Skateshop in Starlight Roller rink in North Hollywood on Lankershim Blvd. and ran the Pro-Shop at night and taught Speed Skating and freestyle in the Afternoons until the rink Closed in 1982. While running Starlight Skateshop and managing the rink for a short period of time Dave met up with some of Roller derby's Legendary Skaters - Dave had the opportunity to Audition with Two of the faumous t-Birds The california Kid Mike Flaningham and Famed Speedster Ralphy Valaderez. Dave auditioned for and booked an IBM Commercial that he Rollerskated in and doubled the Actor portraying Charlie Chaplin (Michael Scutter). - in late 1985 Dave started Manufacturing skateboard gear (Beamer 161MM Trucks - L.A. Skate Rails and assorted plastics) under the Name L.A. Skate Co. as well as distributing Thunder, Dogtown, Skull Skates, Deadbolts, ODI and Blockhead - In 1990 both hot skates and L.A. Skate Co. were consolidated into one Company in the City Of Los Angeles under the Name L.A. Skate Co. and offered retail and wholesale equipment in their own building at 2411 Hyperion Ave. until August 2002 when they sold all the Stock equipment and fixtures to do you skate .com and a Shop in Temecula - The Land and Building were sold to Hollywood Plumbing. One month later L.A. Skate Co. re-opened (in a 9 foot wide garage with 12ft high Ceilings) 2 doors away at 2401 Hyperion Ave.

L.A. Skate Co. moved from 2401 Hyperion on December 31st 2004 to a building 4 times the sq ft and are now across the street at their present location of 2420 Hyperion Ave.

Some of Dave's Regular Customers Include The Derby Dolls out of Los Angeles, The Roller Derby's Los Angeles T-Birds, Skaters from the Roller Rinks Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale CA, World on Wheels in Midtown Los Angeles CA, Skate Depot in Cerritos CA, Skateland in Northridge CA, and Competition Skaters from all over the World. One specialty is the Correct Mounting of Professional Skates. Dave is one of the few people who know how to accurately adjust the Snyder triple Action pivot Pins. He is also experienced in the Correct adjustment of Atlas(Import) - Chicago and Sure Grip Rollerskates.

The Only Entry level Skates Made in the USA are Sure-Grip International which is approximately 20 Miles from our Facility. Dave has been working Closely with Sure Grip for over 27 Years.

Dave has a minimum of 30 years experience handling all the top name brands of Conventional (QUAD) Rollerskates and Skateboards in a Retail Arena. Dave see's products that Last and those that are Garbage. Dave only Sells Equipment that he is Confident will last and that a manufacturer will stand behind and Warranty.

Dave Says: "Customers Refer me to Others because they know I wont sell them anything they don't need". Most of Dave's Business is by referral. The only Advertising is word of mouth and a telephone listing in the Local phone book.

The focus is primarily on Limited to Stock Hard goods, like Name Brand Decks, Skateboard Wheels, ABEC Rated Bearings, Soft goods like: Skate T-Shirts, Crewneck and Hoodie Sweatshirts, Jeans, Khaki Pants and Shorts, DVD's and Videos.
