How a Craft Store became an Antique Store

I, Linda, started out wanting to sell some of the extra craft stuff that I had collected as a Pre-School Teacher. Now, I became a Pre-School Teacher after I was layed off at Rockwell (now Boeing, I think it is still Boeing) International in 1992. Anyway, I decided eBay was a good place to do that, since my husband, David, didn't really want to go around the country with an RV to set up a booth at various botique shows. I read about eBay selling in a book, BUT, my best teacher was eBay itself. I opened a second account and sold to myself and found out how it worked. Then I bought my first item from an honest to goodness eBay seller. That was fun, BUT then I sold my first item. I was hooked. Ever since that August in 2005, when I first wanted to sell on eBay, until now I have been selling anything that was in my Pre-School box that I could no longer use. My friends started noticing that my stuff was disappearing. "Why?", they asked. Well, I am too old and creaky to get on the floor and do all of that pre-school teacher stuff any more. I realized that when a small child came up to me and I got dizzy because my vision couldn't focus on them being so close. Or maybe it was when I needed my pre-schoolers to help push me back up after getting on the floor with them. My pre-school stuff is mostly gone now. I still have books that I will have a harder time to let go of. In the meantime, however, I received a house full of stuff. My husband's parents passed away as did my own parents (it happens, especially when you are in your 60's, your parents will be in their 80s and 90s). It's amazing what I find opening a drawer or cleaning out a closset. Some of the items are from the 1800s, most are from the 1930s to the 1970s. I opened a store (I wanted a store in the worst way) on eBay so that I could at least show people what I had found without it costing me too much. Most of the time the items I have found are not much, but sometimes they are really just what someone wanted. I get so blessed and excited about getting this stuff to people that really want it.
Since my husband and I started selling the stuff that had been around for 50 to 100 years we decided that a Craft Store was not going to tell anyone that we had other stuff than craft stuff. I promptly renamed the store, not on the outside, I still have "Linda's Crafts'N Stuff Thrift Store" on the store header, but internally so that you as a buyer will find us and just maybe you will find that treasure you were looking for. I sure hope so. Please come by and browse anytime, ask questions, and have fun helping me figure out just what something really is. Oh, buy the way, David and I take about 3-4 days off every month to go to the desert. I don't have any way of contacting you on those days. It is usually the 3rd week-end of the month. Be patient, I always answer my mail, faster than my phone calls that are always only messages. I never pick up the receiver when it rings and I get to the telephone messages about once every 2 weeks. BUT the email is different. I check it 3 or 4 times daily when in town and it is the first thing I look at when we get back from the desert. Looking forward to hearing from you.
