Beautiful Ceramic Cat Figurines!

My Name is Lisa!

Welcome to my "about me" page! If you are here, you have probably already seen my cat creations! I have been asked how I came to choose this very unique occupationso here's my story...

For two years I majored in art at Purdue but I found myself in a quandary... what does one do with a degree in art if they don't want to teach? I ended up finding other ways to earn a living but could not quite subdue my need for artistic expression...so I worked to survive and did paintings on the side for co-workers and friends. I was working mostly in oils at that time, but found the turpentine fumes and toxic oil paints not only vexing to my health, but also annoyingly messy... i turned to doing sketches and water color... but more and more drawing and creating became something to do during rare moments when the dishes and laudry were caught up and the house was clean. Thankfully a few years later I found myself in the dubious position of home schooling my son. He needed an art class so I took him to a ceramic shop near our home where he learned how to make a toothpick holder that looked like a beaver. I was always a lover of cats, so I picked a sleeping kitten figurine to paint. The rest is history. I guess you could say I was ripe to find an outlet that incorporated my love for cats with my love of the arts and was blessed. I have been creating bisque cat figurines and selling them to retail outlets of all sorts near my home for over 15 years and on the internet for about four years. I have over 80 different cat molds (and countless other animals)... but the cats have always held a special place in my heart. I often do custom work from pictures of clientsown cats. Below are some pictures that show a few of my opy catsexcuse the pun. This is also a wonderful way to memorialize a beloved pet that has passed on...
