Produced on an occasional basis for selected U.S. issues since 1983, these first day covers (or "first day cards," if you prefer) often feature combinations, unofficial city cancels, and interesting design and historical tidbits. Favorite topics include music, sports, and trains.
Philatelic Writer And "Facilitator"
I write the monthly "Modern FDCs" column for Linn's Stamp News and "Philately and the Internet" for Global Stamp News, and other articles have appeared recently in The Compulatelist, Scott Stamp Monthly, and Information Week. I manage the Virtual Stamp Club, one of the Web's leading sources of philatelic news, information and discussion, and serve on the Boards of the American Philatelic Society, American First Day Cover Society, and APS Writers Unit; as president of the Philatelic Computing Study Group; and am also a member of the American Topical Association, American Ceremony Program Society, American Society for Page & Panel Philately, Cachet Makers Association, Maximum Card Study Unit and other stamp collecting groups.
