Statement |
| Award-winning
artist Linda M. Olszanski specializes in creating Quilt
Art collages that portray metaphorical imagery inspired
by nature and science. Linda composes improvisational styled collage
quilts with a variety of fabrics, threads, and embellishments.
Unlike traditional quilts composed of 3 separate layers; she pieces,
appliqués and embroiders directly on a layered foundation
of fabric and quilt batting which results in immediate dimensionality.
The
improvisational collage style of composing allows me the freedom
to explore and discover unexpected evolutions of the content and
meaning behind the metaphorical imagery.
While
the metaphoric images have specific meaning to her, they are also
enigmatic in that the viewer can bring their own personal experience
to their interpretation.
A
full-time studio artist, instructor and lecturer since 1994, Linda
art has been exhibited and collected internationally. |

an Instructor she has taught at the City Colleges of Chicago and
art centers in the Chicago area. Her
work has been published in The GUILD: Designers Sourcebook #13
& 14, and in Art/Quilt Magazine. Linda is a JURIED
member of the Illinois Artisans Program administered by the Illinois
State Museum Society and was also the first fiber artist as a JURIED
member of the Oak Park Art League in Oak Park, Illinois. |
