What is mineral makeup?

Divine Minerals Purpose and Ingredients:
* Zinc Oxide has healing properties (great for problem skin such as rosacea and acne), the ability to stay on even while sweating and swimming, and contains a natural SPF. It is also used for its wide range of colors.
* Titanium Dioxide, a white mineral,also has waterproof and SPF properties, and provides a matte look.
* Mica has some transparent properties and allows the makeup to go on smoothly. It is also used to add shine and sparkle to the makeup.
* Iron Oxides give the makeup its pigment/color.
* Ultramarine Blue is required in some cool shades of makeup since there is no blue oxide.
* Kaolin clay is used for oil absorption.
Divine Minerals does not contain:
* Bismuth Oxychloride is the by product of lead and copper refining used as a filler, it can cause itching, cystic acne and other skin irritation. It is very heavy and chemically resembles arsenic and antimony.
* Talc is closely related to the potent carcinogen asbestos. Talc particles have been shown to cause tumors in the ovaries and lungs of cancer victims. Talc also poses a health risk when exposed to the lungs by breathing in the toxic contents dangerous silica and asbestos.
* Cornstarch which is a food derived product, and therefore is not a good ingredient for mineral makeup as it can become contaminated, and go “bad”.
* Parabens endocrine disruptor, neurotoxin, possible carcinogen.
