Who is lucy-bears?

Lucy Bears grew out of my love for Bears (of course), a delight in gardening in my cottage garden, and a love for old things. My cottage is decorated in everything cottage, with a mix of shabby chic and romantic things like roses, cherubs, old china, chandeliers, etc...and bears of course! I dabbled in bearmaking and crafts as a young girl and they (bears) always held a special appeal, so one day in 1991, after graduating college, I stumbled across a small quilting store who had teddy bear kits. I was hooked and decided to try and meet that challenge by making my own bears. The results were pleasing and it wasn't long before my bears were on sale at a couple of shops in the city. What began as an interesting hobby, soon became a love, with people from all over the world beginning to write, asking for details, photos, etc. of Lucy Bears. I began to design and make bears, ranging in size from 1" to 36". although my average bear is usually around 12"-24". I spend hours creating bears to fill orders from private buyers or stores, often sitting up long in the night. It is one of my first loves (after my husband, son and daughter of course!), creating something that I hope will bring as much joy to the owner as I had in making it!
