A lovely rangefinder: the famous Canon L1 (from 1957)
|
It all started as a way to pick up some good lenses and sell some that I wasn't using ...
Now, here I am with an eBay Store, Film Cameras Forever, and a growing part-time business.
Welcome to the About Me page for eBay seller, lukavakeli. I hope that reading a bit about me will give you the confidence to visit my online store and browse through my listings.
I have a particular fondness for film cameras -- you will notice this in my listings. I know that digital is the way of the future, but I am deeply attached to the well-made beauties of the past for both aesthetic and technical reasons.
I specialize in Nikon and Canon cameras and lenses of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. While I will occasionally list other brands, such as Leica, Minolta and Pentax and some digital items, the bulk of my listings are Nikon and Canon SLR and Rangefinder cameras, lenses and accessories.
Not only do I have a love of the great film cameras, I have some practical experience with them, as well. During the 1990s, I worked at a small newspaper as the head of the photography department. This required versatility and patience, as much as anything. My duties included instructing staff in the use and care of their cameras, layout and design of photo essays, and shoots ranging from night football games to real estate to grass fires. I oversaw the entire darkroom process from start to finish, and did special shoots for advertisers.
After my time at the paper, I did some freelance work for larger newspapers and magazines. But, with a growing family, I decided to get a "real" job to pay the growing bills.
Thankfully, eBay has given me the opportunity to stay close to my first love, photography.
With brisk sales in the last three years, my hobby of buying and selling photographic equipment has transformed itself into a viable business.
