How I got started in crochet
I learned the basics of crochet from my mother, she would sit down beside me and wrap the string around my fingers, and hold my hands while she made the chain stitch so I could get the feel of it.
She told me once I got the chain stitch down she would show me another one, well it took some time to get that chain stitch right! I had big loops and small loops and lots of knots, but I finally got it nice and even.
I was so proud of myself. think mom was too. anyway, after that frist chain there was no stopping me.
I learned single then double stitches, and how to read the patterns, after that I was totally hooked!
I still thank my mother for teaching me how to crochet. It has helped me through some really tough times in my life. I've made and sold afghans, baby blankets, curtains and doilies to help my husband pay some bills and provide for our 3 children, it as also allowed me to remain a stay at home mom which I Thank God for everyday!
